Olympia 1972. Johnny sings As if I should die tomorrow.
For me, amateur photographer just out of adolescence, it is on the contrary a birth. Bruno Coquatrix, the boss of the place, gave me my chance. I shoot and meet Johnny for the first time.
Eight years later, I realized my dream: I became a professional photographer and am known for my stage images. Playing with the lights, taming them, magnifying them is more exciting than working in the studio. It is at this time that I meet the boss again, during a concert that I devour my goals. He sees my pictures, adores them, and offers me to work for him.
More than twenty years of passion will ensue. Province, Paris, small or huge rooms, TV sets, but also concert posters, album covers, clichés for the press ... I am day and night in the service of Johnny, day and night alongside a genius of the show. A life of madness and fervor.
Many photographers wanted to capture his image and did it with talent. Very few have had the privilege of working so long with its first truth: that of the stage. His unequaled presence, his charisma, his photogeny and his total intimacy radiated me. I wanted in this book to present some of this work done with and around him, over the years spent with him.
