This version for piano and violin of four of Astor Piazzolla’s best-known pieces is mainly taken from his quintet arrangements and available recordings. When you listen to his records, you notice that the interpretation changes a little each time, with new ornaments, variations, changes in tempo and improvisations. There are two terms used in this album for the violin technique:

• Tambour: a pizzicato sound which is reminiscent of the sound of a small drum.
• Chicharra: the sound produced by bowing on the second string behind the bridge.
