This project was born from the desire to bring together students of all levels and all ages around a creation, to appeal to oral as much as to writing according to the needs of music and the moment, and to involve the musicians in the staging ...
It was also an opportunity to immerse all participants in the aesthetics and practices of so-called "current" music.
The theme of video games interests boys and girls of all ages, but above all, the diversity of this eclectic universe opens the door to all the aesthetics and musical influences of the world, yesterday and today ...
Thus, each song voluntarily evokes countries and reference works. They will therefore be an opportunity to take a closer look at all the recognized influences: traditional music from Africa, East, America, Eastern Europe ... the great names founders of Jazz and current music such as James Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Led Zeppelin, Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, BB King, Miles Davis ... But also to a good number of composers from the "Classical" repertoire who very much inspired me like Debussy , Messiaen, Rimski-Korsakov, Piazzolla, Milhaud ...
The complete orchestration has been imagined so that a classical-looking orchestra (strings, winds and piano) is arranged in front of a typically rock "power trio" (electric guitar, bass and drums). However, to allow adaptation to all constraints (size of the stage, acoustics, technical means, etc.), the songs can be accompanied by reduced instrumental training, or even in piano / song version.
Finally, to more easily master the difficulties linked to acoustics and sound levels, the drums can be replaced by percussion (Cajon for example).
Melom @ .net is an educational work. It is up to each one to choose to approach the music by the score, or orally (memorizations, vocal and instrumental reproductions), to propose workshops of arrangements, improvisation, and why not, writing and composition, collaborations between departments ... As in the tradition of jazz and current music, these songs can be played as written, or on the contrary, be "covered", revisited, adapted, arranged ...
They were composed to be a playground, in every sense of the word!
