SEVEN DAYS WALKING is the title of Ludovico Einaudi's new album, released on March 15, 2019, three and a half years after "Elements" and a triumphant world tour.
Although the instrumentation on the album is for piano, violin, viola and cello, the corresponding collections have been arranged for solo piano.
SEVEN DAYS WALKING is divided into seven episodes, seven days (Day One, Day Two, etc. until Day Seven).
This first edition contains the music of "Day One", the first day. Each month, a new score will be published (day two, day three ...).
Each of the seven episodes of SEVEN DAYS WALKING takes on various recurring themes in a very different way: seven variations that follow the same imaginary path.
Einaudi says that inspiration for the whole project came from winter walks in the mountains: "In January of last year, I often took long walks in the mountains following more or less the same path. One day it was snowing heavily and I gave free rein to my mind in this storm in which all the contours, exposed by the cold, lost their contours and their colors.This was perhaps this feeling of extreme originality who initiated this album. "
The first chapter, the first day, already includes all the main themes, which reappear in different forms in the following chapters - seven variations that follow the same imaginary route. Or the same route, traveled in seven different days ...
