The Madison, which was really popular in the Sixties, was one of the solo dances which caught on at that time, like the Twist, the Hully Gully and others. It started in Philadelphia in 1960. In 1961 it featured in the film West Side Story in the long dance sequence. It came to France in 1962 and rapidly became a “must” for dances and parties; in this album, as in all those in this series, you will find a big choice of tunes by composers who are all well established, written out on a score with the chord figuring.
